My Garden Diary

My first Chinese cabbage should have been 1kg snow bolt…turned out to be 1.75kg of beauty.
We made Chinese cabbage noodle crunchy salad, steamed, and stir fry. Yum!

The begining of the indoor gardening

summer 2012 – indoor gardening

it took a bit of adjustment, indoor is a but different than outdoor garden, but i was hoping to extend the seasons. leaving the capsicum stems was proven as a success.

Hi Dina, Your vege garden looks amazing! I would love the recipe to your Chinese cabbage noodle crunchy salad. I’ve got loads of these cabbages almost ready to harvest and I am a little short of recipes! (I’m stuck on dumplings at the moment)

Thank you, it is all from the love of fresh food……and variety.
The salad can be as simple or complicated as you wish or have available. I’m bad in following recipe it never taste the same.
So I guess the minimum should be shredded Chinese cabbage, capsicum and Crispy Noodle with soy, sugar, vinegar and salt dressing to taste.
My best version is shredded cabbage, capsicum, carrots, spring onion, celery, fresh coriander leaves and crispy noodles (found HighMark natural flavour in the supermarket)
Thai dressing: finely chopped: ginger, garlic, chilli & fresh coriander leaves. 4 Tbs lime juice/rice vinegar. 3 Tbs olive oil. 1 Tbs of sesame oil. 1 Tbs soy sauce. a good pinch of brown sugar ,salt / fish sauce (or both). Finish sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds on top.
All ingredients to taste….and once start tasting you cannot stop 
